Greetings from Missoula, Montana, in the USA and welcome to another blog update for Nico In Real Life!
I am a couple of weeks into my trip back to the United States and I feel like I “lost” most of the back half of May catching up with my friends and interviewing for a new full-time job (keep your fingers crossed for me ??).
Now, it is back to business pumping stuff out, though!

Blog Posts Published
May 2019 Goal
I was really hard on myself last month and I need to be a little kinder if I’m going to stick to this blogging thing.
The three posts (not including last month’s update post) I published last month were all focused on my time in the ‘new’ Boracay Island in the Philippines. I worked extremely hard putting that content together and I’m really proud of how it turned out.
Here are the new posts of note from last month:
- Is The “New” Boracay Worth Going To?
- How To Get To Boracay Island, Philippines
- Where To Eat, Stay, & Have Fun In Boracay (2019 Edition)

I was pleasantly surprised to see some traction on the Boracay posts as well as other content I’ve published previously. Unsurprisingly, Facebook referred over 66% of my traffic after I asked some family members to share my posts.
What is really surprising is that 20% of my traffic was organic, coming through Google searches which means my posts are now starting to rank when people search for travel-related things on Google. Woohoo!

I’m going to gloss over this for now because it wasn’t much of a focus at all although I got really into capturing my experience flying on the award-winning Qatar Airways QSuites Business Class on Instagram that you can replay by going here.
Lessons Learned & Goals For June 2019
I was definitely swinging for the fences last month and fell really short of the 12 posts, 2,000 page views, and 1,000 unique visitors I set for myself last month. It stung a little.
At the end of the day, I write this blog because I love doing it and putting so much pressure on myself to be ‘successful’ makes it a lot less fun. While growing a blog is really important, keeping the passion alive is more important in my book.
With all of that said, I will be shooting for a more realistic goal this upcoming month and focused on hitting 8 published posts above all else. I’ve got all the content so I just need to pump it out instead of keeping it all tucked in my hard drives.
