“Are you going to be hungry enough in two hours to eat at the best oyster happy hour in Denver?” my friend Tom, who I was visiting in Denver, asked, and I shot back my best “Bring It!” look. When then made our way to Angelo’s Taverna (Map It), located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of the city, and is even listed on Thrillist as one of Denver’s Most Underappreciated Restaurants! It was 4pm in the afternoon as we took our seats in a comfortable booth and readied ourselves for the ensuing oyster annihilation.

Yay or Nay?
Nothing but YAY! A tip of the hat to Angelo’s amazing happy hour! The oysters were very high quality at an affordable price. Shame on the people of Denver for making this place feel very underappreciated! To some extent, I do understand because I’m always a little hesitant about eating oysters in areas not in arm’s length from the coasts, but a handwritten board quelled those fears revealing that the oysters were in fact delivered fresh from Maine and Washington on this particular afternoon. With that said, my favorites from this excursion had to be, without doubt, the super succulent Balsamic Glazed Ribs and hearty Bacon & Gorgonzola Chargrilled Oysters, aimed to please even the biggest oyster doubter. The raw oysters were no slouch either when coupled with their signature in-house tartar sauce and horseradish. If you are ever in the Denver area, you would be remiss for not paying this killer oyster bar a visit, especially during happy hour from 3 – 6pm and 9pm – close daily!
